Our neighbourhood is a quiet residential area located just 900 metres from the market square and railway station. Art Center Salmela is less than 4 kilometres away.
Check-in is normally from 5 PM onwards, although earlier arrival can often be arranged.
Art Center Salmela
Spend your day exploring the exhibitions of Art Center Salmela, visiting local cafés and enjoying the atmosphere of summer in Mäntyharju.
Art Center Salmela is one of Finland's best-known summer art exhibitions and attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. From Unelma, Salmela is less than a ten-minute drive away. The exhibitions are open daily from 6 June to 15 August 2026, from 11 AM to 6 PM.
Within walking distance from Salmela, you will also find our beautiful wooden church and the historic Iso-Pappila museum area.
Other Places Worth Visiting in Mäntyharju
Local boutiques Some of my personal favourites are: Puoti Suerte (a little boutique shop), Tarjan Muotipuoti (a fashion shop for women), Makasiinin Puoti & Kahvila (a unique café and boutique next to the train station).
Summer Theatre? Mäntyharjun Kesäteatteri (summer theater) is located near Art center Salmela.
Nilkko Taproom microbrewery: Nilkko is a cosy small brewery taproom worth visiting, and it is within a short walking distance from Unelma.

On your departure day, you still have time to explore a few sights or enjoy a peaceful moment in our garden.
Café walk: Visit Makasiinin Puoti & Kahvila, located just a short walk from Unelma. The local flea market Mäntykirppis is often open daily during summer, and you may discover unique Finnish design treasures to take home.
Museums: Did you know that Mäntyharju has ten different museums? If you are travelling south, consider stopping at Miekankoski Café and visiting the nearby Rafting Museum.
If your departure day falls on a Saturday, you can easily join Unelma's guided garden tour. Unelma Garden Tour. On other days, the tour can be booked as a private experience.
Ryönänhovi garden About a 15-minute drive north of Unelma, Ryönänhovi Garden welcomes visitors during the summer season for a small entrance fee. Please check opening times in advance.
Check-out is normally by 1 PM. If you would like to stay a little longer, feel free to ask about late check-out availability.

Please note: The apartment is not wheelchair accessible. It is located on the third floor of our family home and can only be reached by stairs. The staircase is wide and equipped with handrails.
Comfort throughout the seasons: The house has natural ventilation, and guests can adjust the room temperature to their preference. Windows can be opened when needed, and during summer the bedrooms are equipped with fans. A portable cooling unit is also available in the apartment.
